  1. I was referred to this link through my friend Ana DeVega; for help with my family great great grandparent who migrated to USA born in Brava and Fogo.
I have a translated WILL from my Great Grandfather which he gave all rights to properties in Brava, Cape Verde Island’s. My grandfather would go back and forth to visit his father and other relative’s and to keep up the property taxes. The original WILL was transcribed in creole there’s 7+ lots of land and 3 or 4 homes.
I’ve have never been to Brava, but would like to go on the near future. I have a cousin who travels to Brava to visit her in-laws now and then.
My first priority is Genealogy. Please provide me with details as to how you can help me a long with fee for documented and certified copy of deeds, birth, death, marriage and/or other legal records once my ancestors information has been located.
Lastly, I have original photo’s my Grandfather’s Visa card and passport photo’s along with numerous pictures of without names family that were photographed in C.V.
Thanks, for your time and assistance with my genealogy quest. Looking forward to receiving your feedback.

    Warmest Regards,

    Jackie <– {Burgo-Gracia) Diallo

  4. HI. Please help if you can…. We have hit a roadblock trying to find info about our ancestor Antone Joaquin (or Joaquim) Lopes. He was born June 1827 (or 1830). Got on a whaling ship at 13/14 yrs old. For about 3 or 4 years then jumped ship in Hawaii. We have lots of info on him once he is in Hawaii but cannot find anything in CV. His obit in Hawaii says he is from “St. Gerne, Fogo, Cape Verde”. There is lots of the same info, Hawaii onward, on many genealogical sites but nothing from prior that we can find.

    1. Funny, I know someone from Hawaii with the Lopes surname. However, he is mostly of Japanese ancestry but has spoken of his Portuguese ancestry as well.

  5. Greetings! I’m writing to find more information about my Great Grandfather Joaquin (Jack) Silva (DaSilva) who lived on Fogo in Boca Fonti parish. My grandfather Henrique (Da) Silva immigrated to the USA from Fogo in 1921. I have heard that Jack was lost at sea so we have no real records. Also Brava, I am wondering about my great-great grandfather Casemiro Texeira who, by record, had 50+ children. I am travelling to Fogo and Brava in August (second time to Fogo first to Brava) to again visit Boca Fonti (destroyed by eruption) and to search family connections on both islands. Is is best to check records on each island or in Praia? Thank you! It has been an amazing journey learning about my family history and roots. We have had luck with the Portuguese side but not the Senegalese side yet. Rick
